Mark,
I am also in Zone 5 and have swallow tail butterflies and pawpaws but like
Gordon I have not seen any of them near the pawpaws. I, however, saw a Luna
moth near the pawpaws twice last year.

Mark
I have swallow tail butterflies and pawpaws, never seen a butterfly near
the pawpaws in all the time I have had them. They are also supposed to be a
great attractant to the Luna Moth.

This is off topic but I ask your indulgence.

I'm interested in bringing zebra swallowtail butterflies to my pawpaw patch.
Pawpaws are (almost) the sole source of food for the caterpillar of this
butterfly, and since pawpaws are not native to Rhode Island there are no
such butterflies here. I have sixty-odd pawpaw trees, which should be
enough to support a population. I'm looking for advice, suggestions, and a
way to get hold of some cocoons of this butterfly.

>What mixture do you use for your Bordeaux mixture?
This was a purchased, ready to use powder. 8-9 TBL/gallon.
Don't remember the brand off the top of my head.

So, I guess the secret is that I need to premix this in some
water before adding the remainder of the water. As far as I've seen my
sprayer doesn't have a "line filter".

Don't know that I'd recognize a Zebra if it lit on my nose, but I have had,
in the past, caterpillars of some sort - and presumably Zebras, totally
defoliate a number of small, potted pawpaw seedlings. Picked 'em off and
relocated them to some mature, wild pawpaws growing up in the woods, a
hundred yards away.
