Junebearer: Length-of-day sensitive, plant forms buds in the autumn,
flowers and fruits the following spring and produces runners during the long
days of summer.
Everbearer: Plant forms buds during the long days of summer and the short
days of autumn. The summer-formed buds flower and fruit in autumn, and the
autumn-formed buds fruit the following spring.
Day-neutral: Insensitive to daylength, plant produces buds, fruits and
runners continuously if temperatures remain above 35ºF and below 85ºF.
Runner production is much less than that of Junebearers.
If you live in a hot climate where diseases run rampant, treat strawberry
plants as annuals and plant day-neutrals.
