Ginda,
Here in North Carolina we also have a bumper crop of White Oak acorns. By
late October the turkeys move in and devour the White Oak acorns in a week
or so, but they won't eat our Red Oak acorns.
I have tried crushing acorns for the birds, but they much prefer crushed
Hickory nuts.
