You won't get quite as much, I used to cut them to the ground each year for
cuttings, and when we left the one year old shoots, they bloomed and set
well. The trick is to take out enoug old wood to keep th new shoots coming.
If worst comes to worst, plant extra bushes and prune half of them to the
ground in alternate years.
