Hi,

The freezing and thawing of the pot could kill the plant.

A more constant temperature like buried in the soil, or placed in the
garage/shed (unheated) is best.

I am overwintering my potted trees in our cold room which has a pretty
constant temperture of 40-45F.

You will want to check a chart for how many "chill hours" your plant
requires to break dormancy. According to some, the best temperature to
build chill hours is 45F. More than that and you are not getting full
value. Some say that below 0 stops accumulating chill hours. A debated
area to be sure.

Later,
Tom
