It would be pretty easy for a computer to read and respond to a digital
thermometer. For that matter you could also keep track of humidity and
rainfall by computer. Why not? You could even write a program for your
walk-in cooler that would perform the chilling hour requirements tapering
up at either end. Know what I mean?
