The only thing I found that actually works to keep out small
critters,like voles and rabbits is to make a small fence of
like chicken wire and surround the tree. personally, I found
that in every species that i used those plastic tree
guards,like TREE ESSEntials sells ,they either did no help
in stimulating tree growth and or they caused the tree to
cook in the sun,even the PawPaws. Maybe they just can't work
in this steamy Zone5b Karst topography,but I tried them on
over 40 species of trees and with above said results.
