Derry,
About Dumelow's seedling, Bultitude says the same thing than your Crawford:
(quoting) "Original tree was growing in 1800. Thought to be seedling of
Northern Greening. Exhibited (as Dumelow's crab) in 1818, renamed
Wellington in 1819 or 1820". Beach's Apples of NY says about the same
thing. In fact, if I look closer in A of NY, I can read in the list of
synonyms : "Sutton Beauty, but erroneously" and the reference is Leroy
1873, a French horticulturalist. So we should presume the name Sutton
Beauty was given erroneously to Dumelow's seedling trees in France around
1870, and the Okanagan valley trees would probably not have been that one.
Sutton appears as an interesting variety if we could find some still living.
