I agree with Paul. Begin as you mean to continue. If you start with
arena "trail obstacle" work you are likely to recruit arena riders.
Especially when starting a new group, you need to focus on recruiting
only the most qualified people. Schedule a ride and give the kind of
driving directions you would give for a mission (ie, verbal, by phone,
brief), what time they should be there ready to ride, and a rough
idea of the terrain, and see of they show up for the ride, on time,
suitably equipped, and how they cope with not having their hand held.
