My experience has been that the usual density of searchers is very
low relative to the area being searched, and what usually happens is
that one field team at a time will use their whistles simultaneously.
The more situation-aware field teams precede this with a heads-up
on the radio to alert other searchers that they are about to whistle
then will be listening for any response from the subject. But, more
often than not, there is no likelihood of another field team hearing
them!
