Ok, here's a lurker making myself known.
I am in the process of forming a new SAR group, which will have Mounted, K9,
and Ground units. I have been active in both ground and K9 units for the
past 10 years. Personality & ego problems (I know, hard to believe:) got in
the way and many members dropped out. We are now reforming in hopes of
overcoming those obstacles.
Our team (Great Lakes Search Team) is still in the forming stage. Along with
developing by-laws and certification standards, we've been concentrating on
education (NIMS, ICS, Search Technique, Radio, First Aid, etc) up until now.
We will appreciate any information available, and have been "lurking" and
gaining a great deal of helpful information and advice from you all. We
currently have almost no call/need for Mounted SAR at this time, but
hopefully we will be able to educate our community/law enforcement on those
advantages. We are also working on building those relationships with other
mutual aid groups.
Thanks for your unconscious input.
