Hay needed for Hurricane Horses
If anyone can donate hay for horse victims of the hurricane, the
Mississippi Horse Council needs it delivered to the Coliseum in
Jackson, MS. There were 50 horses there two days ago and more are
pouring in.

Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort
MEMORANDUM
From: American Horse Council
Date: September 2, 2005
The AHC has just been in contact with the Mississippi State Horse
Council, and is currently trying to get in touch with the Louisiana
State Horse Council. The current situation in these states is very
dire; the people and their horses are in great need of our help.
The Mississippi State Horse Council is in extreme need of the
following provisions: Hay, Feed, Water, Veterinary Assistance,
Trailers and facilities to which to move horses. If there is
anything you can do to help, please contact Helen Fleming at (662)
871-0707 (only number with voice mail), (662)871-1976, or (662)871-
3407.
Additionally, AQHA and USEF have joined forces to organize more
hurricane relief. If you have a facility or pasture which you can
offer to house refugee horses and ponies, provide transportation for
victims of Hurricane Katrina or volunteer veterinary services;
please complete the brief form on AQHA's website
http://www.aqha.com/hurricanerelief. You can also call the AQHA
customer service number at (806) 376-4811, however emails are
preferred. Both AQHA and USEF will be posting state by state
listings of these facilities on their websites -
http://www.aqha.com/hurricanerelief and
http://www.usef.org/relief/index.php.
If you have any questions or would like to contribute in some way,
you can also contact either Nicole Lamoureux or Kerry Thompson at
(202)296-4031.
Thank you in advance for your much needed assistance.
