Bill I grow bulb varieties only but the chefs seem to sue them for both. I harvest them early, when they are just a bit smaller than a baseball and the ferns are still tender. Ferns taste great I think. I am trying hard to find alternatives to the market farming usual suspects. Fennel is a perfect substitute.
