The answer depends some on how acidic your soil is to begin with.  See  http://nmsp.cals.cornell.edu/publications/extension/LimeDoc2006.pdf   Refer to Section 9. Timing Considerations for more info on time needed to increase the pH.

Hello, we just had lime spread on our fields and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendation as to when we can start seeding?  I would have liked to have spread it in the fall but it just didn't happen.  Any suggestions?  Does the soil need time to absorb the lime?  might sounds like a silly question but I'm kinda clueless about lime, thanks
