Hi Mike, and regards to all. I finally bought a rainflo this year and love it. I'm using it on bare soil, which is very sandy here (SE MA). I get some soil buildup on the wheels, but no problem. I could imagine it being a problem on heavier soils. But the tractor is creeping along so slowly that you have time to hop off and adjust water flow or knock some soil off as you're going along. While the folks on the transplanter are working their asses off, driving the tractor is slow, tedious, and monotonous.
When we do mass plantings of items like onions or garlic we have lots of hands to help. Then it makes sense to put the tractor in a higher gear and blast the field with muddy holes, then have all of the hands fill them in.
Another thing that I like is you can get fish onto transplants, and can also use it for hand watering in remote spots before irrigation is set up in the spring.

Is anyone using a waterwheel transplanter on bare soil? Either with water or
without. For transplanting or hole marking.
Also can you adjust the slug of water that comes out.
Thanks for any guidance.
