You pick the male blossoms only, those without a small squash behind them -- so pollination isn't an issue unless you pick ALL of the male blossoms, I think.

For some reason, this bounced back to me...

How do you know when to pick them, so that they don't interfere with 
pollination or isn't that an issue when you aren't saving seed?
