Rob,

At what stage do you harvest your nettles? I have been considering offering
them to the market CSA I belong to, but when I went to research the
possibility further, a website stated that they should be harvested at a
relatively young stage. At what plant stage do you gather yours? Since you
are in Quebec, yours might not be as mature as mine, which were being
pollinated by bees last week. I understand that they are good to make a tea
from.

Thanks,

Thanks to everyone for their advice on squash blossoms. I went out early
Saturday morning and harvested a couple dozen male blossoms into 6"
clamshells (compostable PLA), with 4 blossoms in each, and priced them at
$2.00 (probably a little low, I know). I brought home one -- not
spectacular, but not a bad return for 10 or 15 minutes of work. Plus, they
generated lots of conversation, and my hope is that little things like this
will keep people coming back to our stall to see what's new and strange each
week. I sold a couple of bunches of stinging nettles to a woman this week
who emailed me in advance to order them, and she picked up some other stuff,
too, so maybe there's a benefit to being known for having things out of the
ordinary!

Cheers,
Rob

Hi Rob
Selling blossoms at market has been a flop each time. Very few know what
to do with them. Whereas chefs LOVE them & we get 75-85 cents each to
restaurants.
Hope that helps.
