To reduce friction pressue loss over 900', you may want to use a 1" pipe or larger unless it's flowing downhill. Formulas on friction loss http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/hazen-williams-water-d_797.html
We ran 500' of 1/2 pipe from our well to our orchard but had to replace it with 1" Schedule 20 pvc from Lowes at .14/ft. http://www.lowes.com/pd_23993-1814-PVC+20010++0600_0_?productId=3133107&Ntt=200psi&Ntk=i_products&pl=1¤tURL=/pl__0__s?newSearch=true$Ntt=200psi ABecause it is thinner walled, it is more vulnerable to frost, sun than schedule 40.

In my area (East Texas) regular sec. 40 pvc is cheaper than EMT. 3/4" pvc is $.11 cents per ft. If you have to cross a creek why not get water from the creek, It would be closer? But then you would need a pump. Unless it could be siphoned to your garden. Bill in Texas

I am in a money pinch and need to run water to a garden that is about 900' and below my well. The least expensive way to do so that I have discovered is to use 3/4" grey EMT with bell ends above ground. It is stamped as "PVC" the same as the white pipe. I will have to cross the rock shrewn drive twice, a horse pasture, and a spring fed creek.
Can anyone give me some feed back on the pros and cons on going this route?
Thanks for your input! :-)
