To add some more context to the spinach tip burn question:
1) I grow in a windy spot, so I know my well anchored floating row cover moves around a lot and has more abrasion potential than average, I suspect.
2) I grow in North Central Washington. We've not had any hot weather (nothing above daytime highs in the upper 60s) and my spinach has been well-watered, but I wouldn't say rapid growth has been a problem.
3) I will inspect more closely today, but the "burn" appeared to just be on the growing tips, but it didn't look like the tip burn I've seen on lettuce, for example. It's more of a tip wilt, which made me immediately suspect the row cover.
4) I think I'll add wire hoops to support the floating row cover -- as I've done with tender brassica transplants -- and fill a few more sandbags today to hold it all in place on Hurricane Farm.
