The sugar snap peas I got from Johnnys this year were suspected of having pea weavils.  They sent me new peas of a different variety, but also suggested I fresh the sugar snap peas to kill the weavils. I found studies on the internet and the same information they gave me--7 days at 0 degrees or 58 days at 32 degrees.  I split the difference since I didn't have two months and the freezer seemed to range from 10 to 20 degrees. After about a month in the freezer, I planted them.  So far so good.  They are about a foot tall now.  When I read information about organic seed and pea weavils and how there is no treatment--that is, that organic or sustainable growing is limited--it makes me a bit angry.  There are ways to deal with problems in organic gardening and the research in the field of sustainable growing is advancing all the time.  Look around the internet, find your favorite websites such as ATTRA and you'll often discover simple, common sense solutions to many problems that do not involve chemical inputs.

Ninety degrees for the past few days and 50 degrees this morning with 40 degrees expected for the next several nights. Ground water in Delaware is so high now that many large farmers are still swimming in water in their fields even after a week of dry hot weather.  Climate change proceeds, naysayers notwithstanding.
