   That's one reason why Joel Salatins'
pastures are so nice and yet he declares that he's never fertilized
or mineralized them. He doesn't have to: he put the best minerals he
can afford in his pastured chicken feed and his beef's mineral box!

Thanks Allan,

I know Joel like to use Planters II minerals.  Here is a description;

Soft rock phosphate has many benefits for animals and crops as well.

My daughters horses eat Diamond V yeast like it's candy.  The yeast is high
in B vitamins which have micronutrients at the center. The mineral at the
center of B-6 is selenium and the mineral at the center of B-12 is cobalt.

Both micronutrients are crucial for immune health.

B-12 is often a limiting ingredient of the N fixing microbes in the soil.  Without
B-12 it's difficult for the N fixers to work well.  I hear this mentioned often
at the conferences where soil microbiology is discussed.

hth,

Bill
