I agree, your local grocery store is a great place to purchase small numbers of packaging supplies. If it is a locally owned store, I don't know about the big boys. Our family owned store sells me boxes of t-shirt bags, saves boxes for me and I even bought 1/2 bushel baskets for displaying, just ask. Also, ask about display stuff. Our store offered me some display shelving, but I didn't have the room to use it. Now I wish I would have. As far as packaging, I reuse my berry baskets that I use for Cherry tomatoes. I display in baskets and dump them into gallon open topped plastic bags that I buy by the box at the store. This way I don't have to buy 1,000's of bags and not use them. I have purchased berry baskets from http://www.socontainers.com/index.htm They have clamshells, baskets, and lots of other types of packaging. I bough 1200 berry baskets 4 years ago. I probably have 300 left. I sold lots of them to other vendors and some customers prefer to keep their tomatoes in them and return the baskets, sometimes. Good luck.
