I know nothing about it, except what I read in local papers.
Apparently, there is a huge worldwide shortage of hops due to the rising
popularity of microbreweries. I understand this is a perennial culture
that takes 3-4 years before it starts to yield, and it takes up a lot of
space (hops is a vine that needs to be trellised).
I think there might be a good opportunity for enterprising farmers
there, although I am not pursuing it myself. My hands are pretty full
right now with starting up market farming! :)
Let us know how it goes. Selling local hops to local microbreweries is
an intriguing endeavor!
