Is it a finger-type transplanter, where the person sitting on the transplanter places the transplant in the open fingers as they come around the wheel? I haven't used one in a long time but I remember having to have a consistent approach, placing the transplant in the same place in the finger each time. The setting just adjust for how far the fingers make it into the furrow. If the transplants aren't set into the fingers in the same position each time, the plants will be set at different depths.

We bought a used one row tobacco setter. We are trying to use it on our flower and vegetable transplants. It either barely sets the plants, and won't cover the root ball, or buries them. We have adjusted everything that we can think of and we still can't get it right.
Any suggestions? We have more rain coming this weekend and we're getting a little frantic trying to get everything planted.
Thanks in advance for any help,
