We use a lot of residue but we use newspapers and grind border hay and
create the residue. We use a water wheel transplanter and plant through
the mess. I had to weld mower sections on the wheel and also weighted it
down with weights off the rear wheels from a lawn mower that had died.
Worked good but weeds came up in after about 3 mo, so I felt that it would work
for really short season products like lettuce. Probably will do some again
this year. I'm trying to get rid of the hort plastic, it can really
be a pain but it really does work when you don't use any herbicides.
