We've had surprisingly good luck just using a Sears dehumidifier in our
usually overly moist garage. (Metal pole building with cement slab floor.)
Onion are hung from the ceiling, squash, carrots, and potatoes go unwashed
into milk crates, but not more than half full. I set the gauge to around
60%, which is a compromise from ideal for all, but it seems to work well and
most things last until spring.

What do people do for winter storage of crops like carrots, beets, winter
squash, onions, etc.? I am looking for low tech, energy efficient storage
facility designs and ideas. Thanks. -John
