Alison,
At this time, we are not a membership market. We charge a straight 5% fee. The committee the juries the artisans is the same committee that runs the market. We have only turned down one person because of poor quality and we told them that we had no space available (she was a sweet old lady with hideous things!). We have no had any complaints about the amount of time that they get at the market. There are very few outlets for crafters here and most of those outlets are very expensive. We also require that artisans come from our county. This helps to limit the number of requests that we get.

Shelly,

Jurying crafters is something our market has struggled with. Do you
have a committee? Does it have crafters/artists on it? Have you had to
turn down any one for lack of quality?

Do you find that one or two days a month is satisfactory to them? And,
how do you pro-rate membership fees?

How do you do recruitment?

Thanks!

Alison

Suzie,
We rotate craft vendors throughout the season through a specified number
of
booths. In other words...the rug maker and quilter might be there the
first
week of every month then another two crafters will be there the second
and
so on. We just decided how much room we wanted for crafters and we limit
it
to that. We also jusry all of our crafters for quality.
