I am so very sad to hear that Carla Emory has passed on.

When I met my life partner in 2002, one of the first books he brought me was
his 1978 copy of Carla's book. He memntioned he had often thought of driving
to Idaho just to meet Calra. Last month (Sept), we both got to meet Carla at
the Common Ground Fair in Unity Maine. We had a couple wonderful talks with
her and her new husband. We made tentative plans for her to speak at a local
farmers/homesteaders group meeting next year. She will be sorely missed.

I am sad to say that i just received an email after writing well wishes
to Carla Emery. She passed on about an hour ago, after suffering a heart
attack yesterday. Hats off, prayers said, and candles lit in remembrance
of a good woman who has assisted so many thru her sharing of experiences
on homesteading.
