I'd think this is the precise kind of information that your
County Extension Office would have. And it would be
specific to your area.

Their main job (as I understand it) is to disseminate this
type of information to farmers and gardeners, as well as
other information to consumers (nutrition, home food
preserving etc.).

There may be other good info for Virginia gardeners and
farmers on the website as well.

Most (probably all) the States also have a very informative
State Cooperative Extension Website. You could locate this
via Google as well. (I'd look it up for you, but our ISP
is down at the time I'm writing this, so I cannot access the
Web).
