I have found the semi bush hybrid type to be the most productive
varieties and make the best use of your land. I plant 4 rows 6 feet
apart x 3-4 ft in the row, two seeds per hill then leave a 10 ft
sprayer/picking alley. An acre holds 1500 plants and if you are growing
the large types you can expect at least two to three good fruit per
hill.
In my part of the country we have to get the crop in by mid June and no
later than the third week of June to get a crop established ahead of the
viruses. Good pollination is the biggest challenge, followed by
controling downy and powdery mildew... Bob.
