When plants drop flowers without setting fruit it's because they're lacking
resources to develop the fruit or encountering stress that prevents them
from utilizing the resources they need. It could be as obvious as drought
(common) or as subtle as nematodes feeding on the roots. There isn't just
one reason why that happens. Have your friend examine the plant carefully,
looking for clues, things that seem unusual, that could result in stress.
