I know for many of you, this probably isn't an issue since back east you get
the summer rains. In the dry west, however, we've got to irrigate regularly.
Drip irrigation is the method of choice.

This year I'm growing on a new property, which is what I would call
bottom-land. It's on the lowest side of the 5 acre property, and is so wet
during the winter months that I was only just able to get a tractor out there
last week - and still managed to get it stuck twice in the two remaining
boggy spots.

My organic inspector, when we went out to look at the property, suggested
that this field might do well in dry-farming of melons, squash, cucumbers and
tomatoes.

Trouble is - I have no experience with dry farming any of these crops.

If anyone has pointers they could share, or can point me towards some reading
material, I'd appreciate it.
