Toni,
We will be selling tomato, pepper and eggplant transplants in 3.5" pots at
the farmers' market for $1.25. In the same size pots, we get 1.95 for
seeded annual and perennial herbs, and 2.95 for herbs grown from cuttings.
In 5.5" pots, we get 3.95 to 4.95 depending upon the herb. We don't sell
herbs in smaller pots - we grow them in small cells, but pot them up to the
1801 sheets (3.5" pots) for sale. We do sell Cilantro - maybe 15 seeds in a
3.5" pot, seeded every 2-3 weeks all summer. We spent years telling people
they needed to buy seed and re-seed themselves because it bolts so quickly,
and finally gave up. If they want to buy from us every 3-4 weeks, we'll
have it ready to sell. Frankly, I think they buy a pot when they want to
use it in a recipe, cut it, and buy a new pot the next time. We always
explain about it, always have nice pots to sell, and it's a hot seller - go
figure! We also sell it fresh-cut - but the pot sales still happen. In 4
paks or 6 paks, we get .25 per plant - but sell very few - it's just not a
profitable use of our limited greenhouse space. The tomatoes not sole in 2
weeks or so, we will pot up again, and probably at least double the price.

Hope this helps! We are in a fairly rural area also, so pricing should be
similar. Kentucky can be a challenge for marketing - but it's worth it!
