It's worth noting here that at least in California, farmer's markets are
certified by the state, and each grower who sells at markets much have a
"producer's certificate" from your local county ag department stating
what/where/how much you grow of each item.
Markets are inspected at least once a year. This is my second year and I've
seen inspectors three times at three different markets, so they do try and
keep things regulated. Still, I don't think they inspect your actual farm to
see if you're growing what your certificate says.

I am normally not a big fan of rules but there is one rule I do like at a
farmers market. Only sell what you yourself have produced. If they allow
guys to buy from another source you end up with not much more than a bunch
of small grocery stores under canopies. You could even have guys selling
vegatables yet they have no garden.I think anything you can produce yourself
should be ok though. Our market frowns on craft items but it looks like they
will give my wife approval on soap and home spun yarn.God Bless,
