MarFars - If anyone has any experience with this variety, I would be
interested in hearing about it...
I did 24 plants two years ago - Burpee introduced the seed without
clarifying the importance of 250 hrs. of vernalization (normal strains take
1000+hrs) - the packet wasn't PPV listed either. I was playing around and
didn't try to cool them at all - greenhouse to outside in early June. I got
2 or 3 fist size chokes per plant at about 30" in diameter. The plants
looked terribly stressed and the buds tasted extremely bitter. I think the
plants were confused and attempted a last ditch effort to reproduce...
This year I'm trying 150 - about 2" tall seedlings right now. 100 are going
to be vernalized mid May in a hoophouse. I'm going to baby the other fifty
with short days in a greenhouse and nights in a fridge and see what comes of
it.
My only gripe with the entire thing is the PPV status of the seeds - a bit
expensive and seed saving prohibited.
