Pat

Peppers germinate slowly, usually up to two weeks under normal conditions. Providing bottom heat can help but it will still take 10-12 days with optimum heat. Overwatering, cloudy days, too cool conditions, old seed will slow the process further. If you grow the habanero/scotch bonnet types (Capsicum chinense species) it will take a week longer. If you have healthy seed, an appropriate medium/soil with good moisture and air balance, light and generous heat, you really don't need much more. In those conditions, the seed will have all it needs to do what it does.

Just one question since the list seems to be talking about peppers. What is the best way to encourage germination of the seed?
Thanks, Pat Southern Ohio
