Hey Patrick,
There's an interesting report on the various colored mulches from Amy
Ouellette at the University of New Hampshire's Sustainable Horticulture
division. She found that white plastic mulch placed between the rows had
more impact on yields than red or black plastic mulch placed under the
plants. Also, she experimented with closer spacing, 12" vs 18". Combined
with the interrow white plastic mulch yields increased 54%.
