I would say if the ROPS is foldable, DON'T DO IT! This is your life you are
risking. Even if your farm is perfectly flat, there are times in the field
where tipping can occur. The ROPS is there to save your life. Have you
looked at used tractors? Ours is nearly 30 years old and runs
swimmingly--diesel engines are easy to maintain and repair. And the ROPS is
all welded construction, not foldable. Save money somewhere else.

The foldable ROPS is safe. Most on the newer tractors are the foldable
type. They are not safe when folded in the down position. We fold ours when
putting it in the shed for it is to tall other wise. TexasBill

Okay, I have to shamelessly admit that I used the laundry basket salad
spinner idea from this list, modified it a bit and won a prize! So to
whomever it was that posted the idea of using a round laundry basket with a
rope tied to it as a salad spinner, thanks very much!!! I use mine in a bar
tied in the shower with the shower doors closed. I call it the shower salad
spinner. Blessings!

Gosh! Using your laundry basket salid spinner in the shower stall takes
half of the fun out of it! Maybe you are using it to spin salad grown in a
winter hoophouse. Then using it in the shower sounds like a cool idea.
Oherwise it's much better done hanging under a tree. Hang up two and you
can operate one with each hand and get showered on both sides at once.
Better yet, invite a few friends to watch.
I would be interested in what you did to modify it. Mine is so simple I
can't imagine how I could do much to modify it. I found that by nesting two
together I could strengthen it structurally and get a smaller grid pattern
on the sides which prevented it from throwing smaller leaves through the
grid.

The original poster of the laundry basket salad spinner idea.

Marlin,
Well, truth be known, I live in Southeast Wyoming.....I dare you to come out
here and try to find a tree. There are a few sticks growing in the yard that
will be trees by the time the grandkids inherit the place. The family that I
bought the house from left this bar mounted in the shower for hanging
clothes on in the winter to dry, so it works perfect. Although, my inspector
did want to know what I used to clean the shower. Also, I harvest this salad
in the morning and it is getting hot in the western sun by the time I am
washing and spinning it, so the house is a much cooler place to be. Actually
it was comical because I talked of spinning it up, closing the door and
letting it go. The funny part was when I talked about how a bit of lettuce
escapes so if you do not have time to eat lunch and cleanup before market
(2pm) you can just jump in the shower and have your leftover salad greens
while you are cleaning up! I really do not do this but it added comical
humor to the day. So, Marlin, if this was your idea, thanks for helping me
win free tuition to next years conference, Lord knows I need it. But now I
am thinking that two would be quicker than one!

I missed the original post: could you tell how to do it
again, please? Or if it's a file on the website, could
someone tell me where it is?

Thanks!

The downtown Fort Pierce Farmers' Market has been prominently featured in a
national magazine promoting farmers' markets throughout Florida.

Within the last monthe it seems I remember a posting of a conference in
Indianapolis, Indiana that featured Eliot Coleman. Does anyone have
additional details as to the date, specific site cost etc for this
conference?

I was wondering if either one of you would care to go into a little bit more
detail for me on this salad spinner idea. What you using for pull this
contraption? Rope maybe? And is it just an ordinary plastic laundry basket
you are using? I am very interested in this concept! I must have missed
the original email that went out!

Thanks!

Jay,

Paul attended last year and was pretty impressed with it. If you're close,
it should be a good one.
