I have thought of making frames out of furring strips that the cloth would
be attached to. Then you have something more substantial to move around.
These fabric panels, if you will, could be attached to a hoop structure.
Almost like a greenhouse, but hung with fabric instead of plastic film. But
of course this would be impractical for a larger operation with long rows on
uneven ground.

for me, also. the issue is never just holding down the covers. The
issue is how to get back under the covers and out of them and not
destroy the cover and be able to hold it down again, sometimes with
your arms full of produce! ;-)
