I left my job last October to become self-employed and had health coverage
all lined up. Because I have a genetic defect, they denied me and since
then, I haven't be able to get coverage anywhere. I even spoke to a White
House rep as well as my senator about health coverage problems. They
referred me to the high risk pool for Louisiana, only to find out their
rate was over $800/month with a $2,000 deductible and a waiting list of
about 250 people!!

Unfortunately, I will have to soon return to the working force just to get
coverage. I'm 43, single and without dependents, which means I don't meet
the criteria for any government programs or assistance. I have been told
repeatedly "Sorry, you just fell between the cracks". I've worked hard to
pay off my mortgage, vehicle and any debts so I would be able to grow a
home business without financial worries. Now I'm told it was all a silly
dream because our government doesn't care much about the middle-class,
working people that are responsible enough not to spit out children by the
truckloads!

Sorry to go on about this. I'll just take my disappointment and bad
attitude to some job I'll be forced to keep unit I'm on SS. However, I
will continue gardening and hope the best! Sure enjoy this list.....
