I meant to respond to this- you have to be very careful about "price fixing"
as it's illegal. I'm either a liberal conservative or a conservative liberal
but I do not believe having anyone dictate what I sell for is right, fair or
in the end, helpful.

Just a reminder to others out there do not put in your rules any price
structure requirements. For example that prices for produce have to be
within 25% of each other. A couple of years ago the NC State Attorney Office
did a little survey of area farmers markets. The market in Hillsborough, NC
and another were charged with unfair pricing. They had to revise their rules
and stop forcing vendors to maintain a certain price guideline.
We at the Carrboro Farmers Market do not have any kind of pricing rules. I
will walk around the market to survey the price on items I have to sell as
well as to what is available. By checking what is available I can direct
customers to a location for an item I do not have. They may not buy from me
then but will likely return at a future date to purchase something else.

One of the things that the officers try to impress on the new sellers is
that all the prices be in the same ball park. I might get $0.25 more because
it is chemical free than someone else, but never $1.00.
