I hadn't read Adriana's message before I left for market this a.m. and
charged $1.00 a pound. At that I felt guilty! I was literally weeding the
tomatoes the night before and remebered that some Mexican dishes call for
it. So they were dirty, mostly with a root. I had one very sweet old Mexican
man who didn't speak English and his eye lit up when he saw it. He tried to
give me $2.00 for his 1/2 pound bag and came back for when he saw how cheap
it was. Everyone else wanted to talk about it so even if doesn't sell, it's
a good conversation starter. A couple of the vinters recognized it from
their vineyards and had a good laugh. I wish I had known about the Omega 3.
Wait till next week!
By the way, I used Paul's burlap for the first time today. it was quite
warm. I soaked the burlap in cold water (took a while) and then when I got
to market, placed it in a basket and then loaded the purslane and some
herbs. Worked great! And looks nice and rustic too.
