One of the recurring subjects on this list,
discussed many times a year, is getting
higher prices for what you sell.

Aside from producing an attractive quality
product, the easiest way to increase
demand for your product (and then prices)
is through advertising.

Often, the saddest tales I hear are from
people who spend some money on advertising
to get a business going, and then stop.
Most market farmers should not be buying
$700 per insertion ads unless their business
volume justifies it. Some regular ad presence is
justified however, in order to improve profitability.

Now for the rocket science side of the business:

The long term effects of repetitive advertising
are well documented in numerous books and
research papers and are worth mentioning here.
What the research shows is that advertising over
an extended period allows prices to be raised
for advertised products, relative to unadvertized
products in the same market segment. The price
differentials for advertised goods are substantial,
paying back the advertising many times over.
