The rule of thumb is that you should spend all you can afford,
but waste none of it. This means you must have a plan and
use a disciplined approach. Then you must measure the
results.

If you have no $$ to spare for advertising, I would actually
suggest getting a part time job or coming up with some
way to acquire money for advertising. You don't need a
lot of money to get started.
