I am in zone 7, My 22x145 double layer unheated greenhouse stays roughly
10-15 degrees above outside temps, when its 10 outside I get a balmy 20
inside. I have pansys in this house they freeze solid at night and recover by
day. They have not grown more than an inch in six weeks the soil temp this
morning after a 12 degree night was 40 degrees.

My 14x130 single layer house gains me 5 degrees over outdoor temps, the
nursery guys use single layer hoophouses for the sole purpose of holding
perennials dormant they don't want them to grow during winter. Soil temp this
morning at one spot in this house was 38 degrees.

By adding heat I can finish a crop in less than half the normal time I
believe using heat in winter greens production would be profitable simply by
increasing growth rates and regrowth after cutting...Bob.
