And that is the beauty of growing... a new season to forgive you for all the
sins of the last.

I have never had luck freezing cob corn. I assume that I don't have the
ability to freeze it as fast as it should be to preserve texture and taste.
I know that cutting off all the kernels, blanching, etc. is a lot of work
but it seems to work for me the best.

Strawberries I'll leave for those with broader experience than mine.

But a question... I have grapes, just Concords.

Any tips on a training schedule?

And what information might you have about grapes that are suited to the
Midwest... Zone 5a, 5b?

I'd like to try my hand at winemaking... which I did do when I was growing
grapes in Western NY. Made a great Riesling champayne there one year.
Entirely an accident of good fate. But the Western NY climate was moderate
in the winter and kinder to vinifera grapes than I think Illinois would be.

Any ideas on how a Marchal Foch (sp?) would do in my zone?

OK, OK, my farm is probably up for sale in June although I'm planting it
because a sale can't occur before September... but I have my eye on one in
Indiana. Near Delphi.
14 acres with 20 more available in the next 4 years. It's the little
things. And is anyone aware of farmers' markets north of or near
Indianapolis and Lafayette?

Well, hey, there's nothing like looking toward a future.

Happy New Year folks!
