When I sell fruit I know exactly what I am selling. The same can
be said for meats and vegetables. I know the flavors, the
characteristics and MOST OF ALL that that which I am selling is
safe..totally safe. Now I love mushrooms including the standard
white button found in most groceries and the various varieties
that might be found only in the larger, more cosmopolitan, or
ethnic market. Would I sell mushrooms or harvest mushrooms in the
field? Absolutely, positively no way. One bad mushroom can kill
or at best do irreversible damage. If there were a 100% proven
and reliable method of knowing that that which I might be selling
is TOTALLY without doubt or concern then I might consider
mushroom culture. Right now I have neither the knowledge,
experience or resources to even consider such risks. If I sell an
apple even if I am not a pomologist it probably isn't going to
kill anyone. I simply do not have such a comfort level about
mushrooms. Do you?
