Good luck on bananas mangoes lemons etc. . I agree only fresh means
fresh. Organic means organic u have to check out the standards to see
what that means.
http://www.ams.usda.gov/nop/

The only thing I wonder about USDA organic is the manure and compost
they are allowed to use. I don't see where the manure or compost has to
come from an organic source. I worry they are getting it from factory
feed lots and city clean green waste. I know composting has come a long
way but still I think the NOB should have stated in the standards that
compost and manure should come from organic raised . I also worry that
GMO may come in to a organic growers land if he uses soy meal , cotton
meal etc from non organic sources. I hope the USDA does not let it
stuff into organic that is not allowed through the manure from factory
farm feed lots ,compost, factory farm waste cotton soy etc or city
waste herbicides, pesticides, antibiotics, gmo etc. in other word I
think The USDA should give organic growers guidelines to help keep
organic organic. The problem with so many small growers leaving the
organic movement there is few to fight for the little guy and I think
the big money boys will take it over and make it mean nothing. Already
my certifier says the little farmers cost them money and the big growers
who give them the most money are the ones they have to please. They
even said the more small growers the more they loose so they are voting
to double the cost to small growers. the ones that can afford it the
lest. I do agree anything u can buy local is better for lots of reasons
but still I like my tropicals and subtropicals . So IMHO there is good
better best never let it rest till the good gets better and the better
gets best. Organic fresh best of both worlds.

Correct. Or at least 'USDA Organic' doesn't mean fresh. As market
farmers we should be fighting to differentiate between fresh, locally
grown produce and all that other stuff whether it is called organic
or not.
