When I sold down on the coast, I advertised as "non-certified" organic, and
then educated my customers as to why I wasn't certified, and just what the
heck "organic" really meant. I always took my records of soil & plant
tissue tests to show no chems had been used in the growing of my produce.
It didn't take long for them to trust me, and the non-cert didn't matter to
them.
But now up here, different ballgame--new customers, new markets. These
people don't trust me, and organics have come a long way even in just a
couple of years. I won't even bother to say "non-cert organic" because I
protest the govmt taking that away from us.
I'd love to see a new term become available.
