Still, I think that it is more than just a simple problem that the long used
term "organic" has been co-opted and "redefined".

I'm all for consumer protection.

What are some of the old organic certification organizations doing to market
and educate the public about the product?

When I was selling at the farmers' market I did not have certification.
Because of Illinois laws at the time... well, and I was very small ... I did
call my stuff organic. But I changed to different signage... "Grown without
pesticides or herbicides."

That seems to have meaning for people... fertilization/sustainability
education is more difficult.

Some of the chemical growers objected to my new sign. They said it was
nothing more than a fear appeal and maligned their produce.

I'm not sure how or if the rules changed this year at my old market.
